The Rainbow Rambler
As I begin this latest edition we are seeing another great afternoon storm with plenty of rain. We have had a number of these afternoons the past few weeks and as a result we have seen the grass turn green again and the lawn mowers very busy. What has that got to do with trout fishing you may ask? NOTHING except...
We are seeing the lake still rising a little (now at 53.7%) which is more than 20% more water than this time last year and for all of you that saw the lake at its low levels a few years ago it is truly wonderful to have this level again. Over the past few months as regular readers of this report will know we have seen some great catches of both Browns and Rainbows and this continues, albeit a little slower than previous reports. Catches always reduce when there are less people about and due to the time of year when most are back at work this means less visitors and fish.
Water temps are around the 19 - 22 degrees which means that if you are fishing from the shore you are best off using worms or bardis on the bottom. Late evening and into the night is certainly your best time.
Trolling is still producing results for those who spend the time and most of all, hit the water early. Fifteen to twenty metres of water seems best and getting down as far as possible with your gear will give you the best results. Mix your lures up but try my favorite Lofty 51Y and hopefully you will be successfull!
Don't forget if you are planning an Easter escape it would be best to plan your visit now to avoid any dissappointmrnt.
We look forward to seeing you if you can make it to Rainbow Pines soon.
Please remember to send in your reports to pete@rainbowpines.com.au for inclusion in this report.
Until next time..."Limit your Kill, Don't Kill Your Limit"
